As a fantasy fan, I had mixed emotions about The Hobbit. I didn't like Beorn. I pictured him completely different. Smaug was awesome!

Differernt Genres

I am writing several short stories. One is a horror story. I am not revealing the pen name I will be writing under. The short story will lead to an adult horror book when I have time. The short story is looking to be around 40,000 words (around 150 pages). I am hoping to have this one out by August 2014.

Have you ever thought what you would do with an unlimited amount of money? Where would you build your home? What would surround it? Theodore and his wife buy a secluded lot on the outskirts of town. They surround their house with trees not native to the area. Soon their mansion is preceded by a thick forest. The trees, despite needing a certain climate, florish and grow twice their normal rate. It isn't long before the trees dwarf the mansion.

Noises are heard throughout their property. Some are welcome, like that of the cooing of their new son. When he turns seven, strange things start happening. People from the town start disappearing. Theodore must solve the mystery before his family is next.

Where do you get your ideas?

I get ideas from everywhere. I get ideas from books. Sometimes ideas come from where I think a book could have gone with its story. I have gotten ideas from movies, real life, and even dreams. The ideas may take time to develop. I also keep a journal of ideas.


Are your characters real people?

I cannot do magic, but Turik is a part of me. I always thought it would be cool to be able to do some of the things Turik could do. Lighting my hands of fire (without getting hurt) would be a lot of fun. I tried to make Turik a realistic hero. He struggles with good and bad. He has to learn to control his anger, even when he is doing what is right.

Saying Goodbye

This is not a spoiler. I was trying to decide if a character had to die. When I thought he/she had to, I played it out in my head. Below are the feelings I had when going through that thought.

It is hard to decide if a character has to die. You grow to like some of the characters, but their death serves as an important point in the book. It is a strange feeling to feel sad when a fictional character dies in your book.

Now if I could get the man with the greatest voice alive, Morgan Freeman, to read my book I could sell millions! I am planning to make my books into audiobooks. I will let you know when they are available.

Dover Area Community Library

Thank you to Dover Area Community Library for having me for a book talk and signing. It was nice to meet some new people! It was wonderful to see some of my old students. They appeared to be doing great things!

Now I am going to get ready to go to the library in Red Lion. Tonight at 6:00. I will be passing out bookmarks. I will be selling books and posters. I hope to see you there!

RESULTS FROM FREE PROMOTION

I gave away 2,105 books in the US and 40 in other countries. I have sold enough copies since to pay for the promotion and am now making money. I have sold at least 1 book everyday since the end of the promotion. That isn't enough for me to quit my job (something I don't want to do anyway), but if it hold for a year it is a nice supplement for my income. Also, I only have 2 books out right now and am hoping for a spike in sales when the third one comes out next week.

CLOSING IN ON 2000 EBOOKS

I recently tried ebookbooster to advertise my ebook. I gave away over 2,000 copies of Solerra so far with about ten hours left. I probably would have given away closer to 200 copies without this website. It is 2,000 people that probably wouldn't have found my book. I have already sold copied of Jacqueline the Elven Queen, the second book. I give the promotion full credit for these sales. I didn't make any money off the 2,000+ copies I gave away, but it was a thrill to see my rankings go down as low as 101 and all the way to first in two fantasy categories. It is also pretty cool to think those 2,000 people may read a book that I wrote.

There is also hope in selling the second book and the third book. It got my name out there.

I also gave away and sold some books overseas. I was downloaded in Japan, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Germany. Yes, I know Canada isn't over a sea, but it is on a different amazon link, so I put it there.

A Hero! (Spoiler for new Superman Movie)

I read an article about the new Superman movie (it's awesome). It complained that Superman has never killed a bad guy before the new movie. The movie writers didn't give him a choice. While fighting they killed what had to be hundred, caused millions if not billions in damages to the city, and would have done even more. I had no problem with how the Superman movie ended.

I cannot wait for the next movie.

I am curious... Are you ok with Superman taking one life to spare dozens if not hundreds of others?

On a side note, I can't wait for the second installment of The Hobbit!

Dramala the Blood Queen in nearly finished. The cover is nearly finished. Some final editing, a pre-read, some final final editing, and she will be printed.

When it is published book IV will begin. The cover is being designed again by Matt Kaler, who has done an amazing job with the covers!

Finished On Writing by Stephen King. A great read for anyone who wants to write. Now I am reading Inferno by Dan Brown. I really enjoyed most of his books, but this one isn't working for me.

Dramala the Blood Queen

This seems to be the favorite title from the fans. It is completely planned out and nearly finished. The next step is to get the cover art, make bookmarks and posters, and have it completed for the cover. I can't wait to see how it turned out.

After a short hiatus to catch up on work, I am back to writing the third book. Two possible titles are Dramala Queen of the Shades or Dramala the Blood Queen. The votes are pretty heavily in favor of one. Let me know if you have a preference.

Just finished two Jack Reacher books and about to finish the third one this month. Lee Child writes exciting books that are hard to put down. One Shot, The Hard Way, and Bad Luck and Trouble are all great reads! I believe I will be reading Matched next.
